Smell the New Books!

You can smell something in the air at the Bondurant Community Library - the faint woodsy perfume of fresh cardboard…a bit of binder glue, spicy Chinese ink, intermingled with the sweet aroma of… new books!  We’ve ordered boxes of new books and they’re ready for you today!

We have been busy “shoring up” the holes in our collection – namely, the um, hot romance genre.  So, just in time for the freezing temperatures, we’ve added hot titles from the “Play by Play” series for your reading pleasure:  “Rules of Contact”, “Melting the Ice”, “All Wound Up”, “Straddling the Line”, and more.  If you need help finding these, just look for the un-shirted males on the cover.  Another point of reference are the highly visible six-packs gracing the covers.  And I’m not talking about beverages…  These new literary additions are highly readable, feature intricate plots with sub-plots, and include extensive character development.  Also keep your eyes open for more from the Misadventures and Bareknuckle Bastards series!

Biographies are all the rage, and we haven’t been stingy adding these:  “Becoming” by Michelle Obama, “In Pieces” by Sally Field, “Racing to the Finish” by Dale Earnhardt, and “Whiskey in a Teacup” by Reese Witherspoon.  Others include bios on Justin Timberlake, Robin Williams, Chrissy Metz, Paulo Coelho, Kobe Bryant, and Tina Turner.

This time of year has us all nesting, hibernating, and wondering if interior design, hoarding, or compulsive shopping are indeed genetic.  Try these titles:  “Cozy Minimalist Home: More Style, Less Stuff”, “The Year of Less:  How I Stopped Shopping, Gave Away my Belongings, and Discovered Life is Worth More Than Anything You Can Buy in a Store”, “The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to Free Yourself and Your Family From a Lifetime of Clutter” and “Homebody: a Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave”.

It’s a long-winded self-help lollapalooza at the library:  “The Road Back to You: an Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery”, “It’s Not Supposed to be This way: Finding Unexpected Strength When Disappointments Leave You Shattered”, “Atomic Habits: An Easy and Proven Way to Build Good Habits and Break Bad Ones”, and “The Four Tendencies:  the Indispensable Personality Profiles That Reveal How to Make Your Life Better”.

We didn’t forget fun picture books like “Frank the Seven-Legged Spider”, “Can I Be Your Dog”, “Princesses Save the World” or “Chicken Wants a Nap.”  And, check out junior fiction newbies from these popular series: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Baseball Greats, My Weirder School, Last Kids on Earth and Princess in Black.

We have the hottest titles at BCL in books, e-books, and audio.  Stop in and take a whiff!
