Smell the New Books!

Can you smell it?  No, it’s not backyard barbeque, it’s our hot new books at BCL!  So, step away from the lawn mower, skip past the sprinkler, and run to your nearest library (that’s us!) to grab an armful of books to fill up those summer hours on the beach, deck, pool-side, or anywhere with air conditioning .

You’ve just mowed the lawn, re-arranged your garden gnomes by height, and now you’re too tired to get cleaned up for date night.  We get you.  Check out the popular Poldark book series or watch it on video, and experience some sizzling historical romance couch potato style.

To put those romantic embers out in a jiffy, just check out our never-ending supply of political best sellers like “Higher Loyalty” by James Comey, “War on Peace: the End of Diplomacy and the Decline of American Influence” by Ronan Farrow, “Edge of Chaos: why Democracy is Failing to Deliver Economic Growth and How to Fix It” by Dambisa Moyo, or political satire: “A Day in the Life of Marlon Blundo.”  Not feeling so frisky now, are we?

I don’t know about you, but after digesting those titles I need some refreshment.  How about chasing them all down with “How to be a Bourbon Badass” by Linda Rufenach?  Don’t forget the maraschino cherries!

Everybody likes a scary and suspenseful tale.  Check out “Then She Was Gone” by Lisa Jewell, “Twisted Prey” by John Sandford, or “Let Me Lie” by Clare Mackintosh.  Awful people do exist in real life!  Read about them in “Wicked Mortals” by Aaron Mahnke, and you’ll realize that truth is more terrifying than fiction.

Take a look at some of these new titles!  You’d think that there was a soap opera going on at the library:  “The Outsider” by Stephen King, “Enemy Women” by Paulette Jiles, “Hard Truth” by Nevada Barr, “Many a Twist” by Sheilla Connolly, “The Promise” by Robert Crais, “A Deadly Éclair” by Daryl Gerber, “The Cast” by Danielle Steel, and “Truly Devious” by Maureen Johnson.

Okay, we’ve touched on romance, politics, happy hour, horror, and high drama.  Take a deep cleansing breath, and go to your happy place.  Having trouble?  Try checking out “Juniper, the Happiest Fox” by Jessica Coker, full of cute fox pictures and Juniper’s rescue story.  You’ll get instant happy vibes, and a reality check in case you ever fantasized about having your own pet fox…

Don’t forget the kiddos this summer.  Fun titles include “Hello Hot Dog!”, “The Sasquatch and the Lumberjack”, “I Will Not Eat You”, “The Cow Said Meow”, and “Sheep 101.”

As always, we have your favorite best-selling authors:  James Patterson, Clive Cussler, Nora Roberts, David Baldacci, Karen Kingsbury, Robert Parker, Robert Crais and lots more.  Stop in today!
